Bryan and Bradford Manning were told they were going blind from an eye disease called Stargardt Disease when they were kids. Danielle MacDonald is the lead in a great new independent film called Patti Cake$ (out August 18th in NY and LA). I got to go to an early screening of the film and meet Danielle. I loved the film and her performance in it. I was very impressed that an actress from Australia could play a rapper from New Jersey. Silly me. Well I thought she did such a great job I wanted to talk to her about it and her life. We talk about growing up in Australia, her decision to pop into acting and how she transitioned into moving to America, training and practicing the rapping for months before she filmed the movie, working on other projects with actors like Alexander Skarsgard (who got naked in front of her), playing Diane Lanes daughter and how Diane really took Danielle under her wing, doing an episode of American Horror Story, how she lost a lead role on a TV show because her VISA ran out, being on Glee, working with Clark Gregg, meeting Amy Schumer and so much more!!! Elizabeth Lucas-Smith and I met in San Francisco back in 2007. 10 years later we meet up (outside of San Fran) and continue a talk we started a decade ago. We talk about the hereditary and degenerative eye disease - Choroideremia. Its a disease that hits both of our lives and families very hard. She is a carrier of it and I am going blind from it. Liz recently had twin girls who will likely be carriers of the gene and she recently had her son tested and was found to have Choroideremia. We talk about being a carrier, being raised by a blind father, having blind uncles, her feelings of passing on the gene, we also talk about her love of her husband, and how she struggled with postpartum depression, and so much more!!! Herb Koss and I have something in common, we love watching improv. And thats how we met. I was improvising and watching improv regularly at iOWest in Hollywood over a decade ago. Herb is 84 years old now and I thought since I haven't gotten to talk to him in a while that he would be a great guest to talk to. I was able to get two thirds of the comedy team, the Katydids on the podcast which is not too shabby. The Katydids is an all female comedy group from Chicago who all have similar names. What could have been a fly by night gimmick has turned into a successful tour de force! They write, produce and star in the TV Land hit sitcom - TEACHERS. They just got a green light for a third season! We talk about the formation of the Katydids, and the evolution from occasional improv show to everybody moving to Los Angeles and making a real go of show business! Marc Andreyko is a very well known comic book writer of such titles as Torso, True Blood, The Illegitimates, Batwoman, Wonder Woman '77. and much more!!! We talk about a project he put together called Love Is Love that was inspired by the Orlando mass shooting last summer in Florida. The money from the Love Is Love comic goes to the victims of the shooting. Marc was able to put this collect a ton of well known comic book writers and artists to make this beautiful book. I am losing my eye sight to a rare degenerative and hereditary eye disease called Choroideremia. Francis Manapul is a jack of several trades: drawing, inking, painting, coloring, writing, etc. I visited Toronto, Canada for a few days where Francis lives and took a shot that he may want to be a guest on my podcast. Francis took some time out of his busy writing and drawing schedule for the new TRINITY ReBirth book that includes Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to talk with me. And boy what a talk it was. The timing of my visit to Toronto was odd to say the least. Francis had some deep loss right before our talk. Losing his friend and his biological father in the same day due to different circumstances. Francis had only seen his father once in 30 years when he visited the Philippines, Francis' place of birth. We talk about how his relationship with his father now affects his storyline and work in Trinity, we talk about his time on The Flash, Geoff Johns, losing a loved one, guilt, regret, family responsibility, and so much more. I am losing my eyesight to a degenerative and hereditary eye disease called Choroideremia. This year I am running 7 marathons around the world to raise money for charity and to see the world before i no longer have the opportunity. In this episode I talk about running the Guayaquil, Ecuador half marathon. Originally I was supposed to run Rio de Janeiro a few months ago but sickness prevented me from doing that. So this run is a last minute fill in I was able to get two guides from Guayaquil who I interview. They helped me get through the race. I am losing my eye sight to an eye disease called Choroideremia. It is degenerative and genetic. So others in my family have it as well. My brother and two nephews. My grandfather went blind in his 40s. I turned 40 in November 2015 and in an effort to see the world before I can't anymore and also to raise awareness and funds for many worthy charities and organizations (Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Autism, Tourettes, ALS, Blindness, Mental Health, Rett Syndrome, Crohns Disease, Cancer, Animals, Kids). With the goal to be $500,000 in total by the end of the year.

I am losing my eye sight to an eye disease called Choroideremia. It is degenerative and genetic. So others in my family have it as well. My brother and two nephews. My grandfather went blind in his 40s. I turned 40 in November 2015 and in an effort to see the world before I can't anymore and also to raise awareness and funds for many worthy charities and organizations (Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Autism, Tourettes, ALS, Blindness, Mental Health, Rett Syndrome, Crohns Disease, Cancer, Animals, Kids). With the goal to be $500,000 in total by the end of the year. I am legally blind and as part of my Choroideremia symptoms I have a sensitivity to light especially sunlight. So I run these marathons blindfolded. However, for Antarctica it was so cloudy I didn't need to. My intentions of running the full marathon change early in the run due to my health and physical condition. I talk about all of that plus I speak with my running guide and other runners and the guy that put the whole thing together. This was called the White Continent Marathon with Marathon Adventures. Jason Mann is the winner of Season 4 of HBO's documentary tv series called Project Greenlight. It is a completion show that quickly chooses its winner so it can make a film and show the process of making a film for HBO. Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and the Farrelly Brother (Peter and Bobby) are the producers. And Project Greenlight Season 1 winner, Pete Jones, is also in the show and helps co write the script. Its a fascinating show, if you've never seen it I recommend it. Jason comes to talk to me about being the reluctant winner, working with such high profile producers, his battle with HBO to get to use film as opposed to digital, getting to make a film based on his own script, casting the film, how he was portrayed, and so much more!! Desi Lydic was 38 weeks pregnant when I talked to her for this podcast. and that was a week or two ago. So she is due with her first child any second. She's also one of the new on air correspondents for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. I got to meet, get taught by and perform with TJ while I lived in Chicago a few years back. I was fortunate to get him on my podcast while we were both in NYC. And we talk about a lot of things.
